Splendid Isolation

Now that the corona virus (COVID-19) has hit the world we’ve suddenly had a few spaces open up in our booking calendar! But all is not lost…. and in fact it’s a great opportunity for anyone in the country already. Especially if you need a bit of time in splendid isolation, we’re the perfect place to be!

Splendid isolation is looking down The Kenepuru Sound from Ngahere Hou

“Imagine waking up in the morning to birdsong and cicadas, knowing that you’re hidden away amongst native bush with no-one else around?

Is there anywhere more perfect? As an intrepid New Zealand traveller, I’ve found the Marlborough Sounds to be one of those last unexplored corners of the country, in the sense that it’s not overrun by tourists.

In many ways, the sheer remoteness and seasonality – combined with the fact that it’s just pretty far out of the way – have allowed the Sounds to remain peaceful and quiet.

The Marlborough Sounds are perfect for people looking to get away from it all in a spectacular location, where sheltered inlets provide perfect swimming spots and lush native forests threaten to consume quiet baches and rarely used holiday houses. You have to make a real effort to get out there for a holiday. You’ve got to want it. No wonder so many people have bolt holes here; I’d drop everything and never leave if I could. “ ~ Liz Carlson (Stuff)

Extra Cleaning…

In response to COVID-19 we have purchased additional supplies of disinfectant, soaps and even loo roll! So we can ensure that every surface has been thoroughly disinfected.

If you are in Self Isolation…

Our priority, along with everyone else in New Zealand, is to avoid the spread of this virus. So, if you are in self isolation please take it seriously, wash your hands and keep a couple metres between you and others. Which is not so much of a challenge for us out here in the wilds!
